Mr. C.W.W. Kannangara, also known as the "Father of Free Education in Sri Lanka.The Central College concept aimed to provide quality education to children in rural areas, irrespective of their socio-economic background. It was a departure from the existing education system that was largely urban-centric and inaccessible to many due to financial constraints. Kannangara envisioned a system where education would be free and accessible to all, regardless of their social or economic status.Accordingly, Narammala Mayurapada Middle School has started.
Mayurapada Central College, located in Narammala, Sri Lanka, was founded by the visionary educationist Mr. C.W.W. Kannangara. The school's establishment marked a significant milestone in the region's educational landscape. Mayurapada Central College was officially started on January 4, 1944, with a modest beginning.At its inception, the school opened its doors to 69 eager students who were keen to receive quality education. These students were the pioneers of what would become a distinguished educational institution.Six teachers, under the leadership of Mr. C.W.W. Kannangara, were instrumental in laying the foundation of the school's educational legacy. Their dedication and commitment to providing a well-rounded education set the tone for the institution's future success.
